Making A Decision Is Easy – It’s Sticking To It That Tries The Soul
Yes. Deciding on a course of action takes merely a second, but following the course you have chosen can take a lifetime. It’s quite interesting to me that some people have not even made a decision yet! Usually they are floundering around in life, moving from one relationship to another, never satisfied, because they never find what they are looking for in someone else.
Obviously they do not find what they are looking for in themselves either, or else they would not be looking to other people to fulfill that need.
What they truly desire is to be approved in who they are. So this begs the question…WHO ARE YOU?
This question has led me to some great realizations.
It might seem over simplified…but I am a child of The King of Kings.
This is a good place to start. I am a child by adoption into a family that is rich beyond any earthly conception of riches.
I am dedicating this post to my wife who has been a wonderful testament to faith in God…despite the fact that she would say otherwise about herself she has drawn close to the Lord and shared some of her experience with me.
This qualifies as our Shield of Faith
- God is who He says He is.
- God can do what He says He can do.
- I am who God says I am.
- I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
- God’s Word is alive and active in me.
This is a life philosophy all in itself and it is powerful. I highly recommend that you look at these statements and then ask yourself what you believe about each of them. Then compare your belief with what God’s Word says about each item. Where do you stand?
What is your weakest area?
What is your strongest area?
What do you need to work on?
As for me…
I believe that God is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
He is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent.
I believe that God can do what He says He can do.
That he created the Earth and the Universe…and everything in it. A God who can do that can do anything. I also believe that He is intimate enough to want a relationship with every human being…including me. To redeem and save as many as will come, out of the fire and into eternal fellowship with the Father.
I believe that I am His child, adopted by grace into salvation and eternal life.
I believe that He loves me and wants to have a personal relationship in which He shares the joy of His existence with that which He has created.
I believe that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me:
including finding a way to survive and thrive while I honor all the provision that God has made for me. God’s provision extends from the physical needs of food, shelter, clothing, water, breath, and life to the spiritual enlightenment that can only be found in His Word and in His Truth.
I believe that God’s Word is alive and active in me.
I believe that the entire Word of God is inspired and the message is unmistakable and inerrant. I believe that those who truly study God’s Word become equipped with the Sword of the Spirit and are able to discern the truth, as the Spirit of God witnesses to their spirit to identify the Absolute Truth.
This is my shield of faith…
Correction, this is a mere outline of my shield of faith which, thanks to God’s Word, is full of intricate designs and details that draw in the hungry soul. The soul which is searching for truth will find it in the guilded designs of this shield of faith. The crest on this shield runs back in time to the very creation of the world and humanity. It is at once the story of an excellent creation, a broken world, and a plan for redemption.
What does your shield of faith look like?
Have you made a decision about where you are going in life?
Are you staying the course in that decision?
In what are you placing your faith?
You ought to answer these questions as they will reveal the true nature of who you are and where you are headed both in this life and the next.
With the foundation of Jesus Christ, all obstacles, enemies, armies, problems and trials become simple steps of victory in the Spirit. We may wrestle with these obstacles in the physical world, but how we decide to do that reflects to our glory or to our shame in the eyes of God. God sees all things. Why don’t you be honest with Him and start working this life out with Him on your side…today.
